Job Summary

Job Summary

Under general supervision as a school district safety officer authorized by Education Code Section 39670 et seq., is assigned for day and evening activities to one or more school sites to protect life and property, respond to alarms and calls for assistance, perform a variety of investigative and protective duties, provide security services in assigned areas of the District, and do other related duties as required.

See job description for specific requirements.Ability to:Lead or direct the work of others engaged in campus supervisor activities;Collect and preserve evidence;Write complete, concise reports;Collect and analyze information and make independent judgments;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with pupils, staff, law enforcement agencies andthe public;Perform effectively and efficiently in situations requiring tact, diplomacy and good judgment;Enforce campus rules and regulations; Communicate effectively in oral and written form, particularly with adolescent students;Understand and carry out oral and written directions;Establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work;Relate effectively with racially and ethnically diverse staff, students and community.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEEducation and Special Requirements:Must complete an approved Peace Officer Standards and Training Course (POST) and have a valid POSTLevel I Module certificate or completion of a basic law enforcement academy certificate.Must meet legal requirements for possession of a concealed firearm, if required by the Board ofEducation.Must have and maintain a valid CPR and first aid certificate and possess a valid California driver'slicense.Must qualify for insurability with the District's insurance carrier.Must show proof of completion of SB1626 Campus Security training.Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.Desired Experience:One year of recent law enforcement experience; ORThree years part-time law enforcement experience.Prior experience with juveniles.PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONSStrength:Moderate work, lifting or pushing objects weighing up to 100 pounds.Working Conditions:Working regularly in variable weather conditions. Long periods of standing and/or walking.Pre-placement Physical: Class I

Must have and maintain a valid CPR and first aid certificate and possess a valid California driver's license. Must qualify for insurability with the District's insurance carrier.)
