Pokemon ROMs are fan-made Pokemon games, but before you scoff and cast aside these tender love and care-filled projects, you need to give Pokemon Insurgence a go! This ROM has been filled with content, from intimidating challenges for veteran Pokemon trainers to a mature, dark-themed story. As well as the weird and wonderful Delta Pokemon!

I’m a long-time Pokémon fan, and throughout the years of defeating many evil organizations collected All kinds of critters and battled my way to the top of the Elite Four.

However, this always seems trivial to me. While exploring the regions and talking to the people in the Pokémon world was fun, I always wanted a more challenging experience. In Pokemon Insurgence, every move in battle and decision is weighted with consequences.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (3)

Story Synopsis

The Torren Region is ancient, unlike most regions that only house one evil team. The Torren Region is full of them. You awake in a cell with your mind wiped of memory and captured by the Darkrai Cultists. However, before they can sacrifice you, Mew comes to your rescue.

Escaping, you and your friends Damian and Nora must rid the Torren Region of the evil cults and get to the bottom of an ancient mystery and find out.

Overall I liked the Pokemon Insurgence story; it takes you to all locations, and although dark, the infrequent drops of comedy relief are welcome. There are many twists and turns, and it’s impressive how fans can create an epic. The game is colossal, spilling over with content. However, the story does drag on, nearing the end of the game.

Key Features

  • A massive roster of Pokemon spanning from gen I – VI, with an extra 197 Delta Pokemon to catch.
  • A Dexnav device allows you to connect online and battle in a series of challenging matches.
  • Choose from four starter Pokemon Delta Bulbasaur, Delta Squirtle, Delta Charmander, or Eevee.
  • Mega Eevee!
  • Secret areas to find and explore aptly named Hidden Grottos.
  • A dark story featuring five evil teams to defeat.
  • A wide range of challenge parameters to experiment with.

The Walkthrough: Welcome to the Torren Region

The game starts with you locked in a cell captured by the Darkrai Cult. With only a short time to escape, a Mew comes to your rescue and breaks you out of the cell. It would be best if you transformed into a cultist using Mew’s powers to leave the evil lair. Escape to Telnor Town and choose your starter Pokemon:

  • Delta Bulbasaur – Psychic/Fairy-Type.
  • Delta Squirtle – Dark/Fighting-Type.
  • Delta Charmander – Ghost/Dragon-Type.
  • Eevee
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (4)

Like traditional Pokémon games, you must battle your rival after choosing your starter Pokémon. If you pick Eevee, Damian will also have an Eevee; however, if you select one of the Delta Pokémon, he will choose its counter.

Now that you have your new companion, it’s time I’m to travel through Telnor Cave. You will find a few trainers here, but nothing too challenging. After meeting Damian by the exit, you’ll discover a cultist plot to kill the second Auger.

After successfully defeating the cultist, you must venture back into Telnor Cave. But this time will be heading straight to Route 1 and onto Midna town. However, before exiting the cave, pick up the Hard Stone, an item that boosts the power of Rock-type moves. It can be found hidden across the bridge and marked by a change in the ground’s texture.

Midna Town: Home of The Trainer School

Welcome to Midna Town, a prospering little settlement home to the Trainer School, Midna Mine, and charitable people. To progress the story, head to the Trainer School, right of the town, up the stairs.

Upon entering, you’ll discover that Nora, one of the students, has gone missing. It’s your job to find her; luckily, she hasn’t gone far straight into the Midna Mine close by. However, you’ll have to fight your way through six trainers. I recommend picking up the Escape Rope near the pool near the entrance of Midna Mine to escape once you’ve got to Nora quickly.

  • Phanpy can be caught in the mine as a Pokemon equipped with the Pickup ability. It’s a good idea to catch one for extra items.

Making your acquaintance with Nora, you’ll discover that she has been chosen by Celebi as you have by Mew. Now you’re ready to revisit the Trainer School to participate in the Trainer School tournament.

In the tournament, you will have to battle your two rivals. You won’t gain any experience points from these battles, and your Pokemon will be healed in between matches:

Damian’s Team:

  • Corphish Lv. 17 –Leer, Bubble Beam, Harden, Vice Grip.
  • Eevee Lv. 17 –Sand-Attack, Bite, Baby-Doll Eyes, Quick Attack.
  • Luxio Lv. 16 –Tackle, Spark, Charge, Leer.

Nora’s Team:

  • Sewaddle Lv 16 –Bug Bite, Razor Leaf, Tackle, String Shot.
  • Trapinch Lv 16 –Bulldoze, Sand Tomb, Mud-Slap, Rock Slide.
  • Zubat Lv 17 –Bite, Wing Attack, Astonish, Supersonic.

Congratulations on becoming the Trainer School champion! However, we have a long way to go before you’re crowned the Torren Region champion.

Nora and Damian will race you to Suntouched City, the next major location in the game. However, to get there, you must first trek through Cyan Cavern while saving a baby Riolu along the way!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (5)

Now Entering Route 2

Route 2 connects Midna Town and Suntouched City; you will be able to catch several Water-type Pokemon in this location, and even a Totodile. However, I opted for a Staryu due to its health-recovering abilities and Psychic-type moves. You can obtain the Old Rod in this area by talking to the Fisherman near the Midna Town entrance.

Battling your way through the route, you’ll notice a trio of Abyssal Cultists blocking the path to Cyan Cavern. To get rid of them, you must travel to the Ancient Ruins a short walk north. Inside the Ancient Ruins, you will find Abyssal Cultists attempting to steal a Riolu! This leads to yet another battle with the evil Abyssal Cultist.

Cyan Cavern is next on our list of places to visit. The cavern is home to many kinds of Pokemon, notably Pancham, which I highly recommend catching. A Nurse Joy can be found at the entrance of Cyan Cavern; she will heal your Pokemon. However, if you are defeated, you will return to the last used Pokemon Centre.

  • There are numerous trainers in this short cave; make sure to catch a Magnemite, as it can later be used to trade for a Delta Fighting/Steel-type Scyther!
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (6)

The Bright and Sunny Suntouched City

Suntouched City is a prominent city in the Torren region. Its multiple layers distinguish it from other cities in the Torren region. There’s plenty to do on the first floor of Suntouched City. You’ll be able to obtain a Moon Stone from a man just south of the bald man who gives you a quest to get rid of a ghostly Delta Aipom from ruining his flowers.

On the second floor, you’ll find the Suntouched City Broadcast Tower, where you can earn some money and catch an Axew and Delta Grimer. It’s time to say goodbye to Butterfree, as you can trade it for a Natu on this floor. Moreover, you’ll find the Suntouched City Pokemon Gym.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (7)

Gym Battle #1 – Thermal Badge

You’ll be happy to know that there is no puzzle to solve in the Suntouched City Pokemon Gym. Instead, you can fight against five trainers before you fight Orion, the gym leader. Although a Fire-type specialist, Orion’s team features two Fire-types and two Grass-types.

  • Vulpix Lv. 23 – Hidden Power, Flame Burst, Hypnosis, Dream Eater.
  • Deerling Lv. 24 – Facade, Double Kick, Solar Beam, Synthesis.
  • Charmeleon Lv. 25 – Flame Burst, Dragon Breath, Sunny Day, Flame Charge.
  • Ivysaur Lv. 24 – Solar Beam, Sludge, Sleep Powder, Leach Seed.

Orion is a tricky battle if you don’t have an answer for both Grass-types and Fire-types. It’s an even harder battle as Orion uses Sunny Day and Vulpix’s Drought ability to power up Fire-type moves and the Solar Beam move.

Eevee’s Return move worked well, and Staryu’s Bubblebeam and Psybeam took out Ivysaur and Charmeleon. Although Charmeleon takes damage from Sunny Day, its Flame Burst attack is deadly while active.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (8)
  • Equipped with the Instant Lapras, you can swim over bodies of water, allowing you to exit Suntouched City and press on to Route 3.

Like the route before, Metchi Town has yet to get much to it. However, it’s a quaint, relaxing little settlement harboring the Pokemon Day Care Centre and is the place where you can access Secret Bases. It’s not all tranquil breezes as you’ll meet Nora crossing the bridge prompting another rival battle!

This time Nora doesn’t hold back, and her team has gone through significant changes:

  • Honedge Lv. 26 – Retaliate, Shadow Sneak Aerial Ace, Autotomize.
  • Golbat Lv. 26 – Confuse Ray, Air Cutter, Swift, Poison Fang.
  • Swadloon Lv. 26 – Bug Bite, Razor Leaf, Protect, String Shot.
  • Floette Lv. 27 – Grassy Terrain, Magical Leaf, Razor Leaf, Wish.
  • Celebi Lv. 28 – Safeguard, Ancient Power, Heal Bell, Magical Leaf.

Although Nora has swapped up her team, it’s no match for Fire-type and Electric-type moves. My Zebrastrika, now equipped with Charge Beam, was able to knock out half her team.

To travel on Route 4 and later Vipek City, you must use the Instant Lapras and swim south of Metchi Town.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (9)

Vipek City: The Torren Landfill

Vipek City is a steaming dump where nothing can be found living in its polluted pools. No, you won’t find any Water-type Pokemon here, even with the Good Rod picked up by the kid asking to see your Pokedex.

Despite its noxious image there, Vipek City is home to the second Pokemon Gym of the Torren Region. Just before entering the gym, you’ll bump into Damian, who mentions Mew, a passerby, obviously not an Abyssal Cultist in disguise. After the ordeal, you’re free to enter the gym.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (10)

Gym Battle #2 – Stinger Badge

Unlike the Suntouched Pokemon gym, you will have to navigate a series of tunnels in trees as the gym’s puzzle. If you want a direct route to Xavier, the gym leader, then follow these simple steps:

  • Enter the first tree and follow the tunnel up and left direction. This will lead to an area with three trees, defeat the unavoidable Bug-type trainer, and enter the next tree.
  • Walk down and left to reach Xavier.

For the most part, Xavier can easily be defeated if you have a well-trained Zebrastrika with Charge Beam and Flame Charge. However, don’t underestimate him. His varied team and strategy of slowing your team down can have big consequences.

  • Shuckle Lv. 33 – Sticky Web, Curse, Rock Tomb, Attract.
  • Mega Beedrill Lv. 35 – Poison Jab, Aerial Ace, Bug Bite, Knock Off.
  • Heracross Lv. 33 – Bug Bite, Brick Break, Counter, Double Team.
  • Croagunk Lv. 33 – Bulk Up, Drain Punch, Fake Out, Poison Jab.
  • Tentacruel Lv. 34 – Muddy Water, Venoshock, Toxic, Giga Drain.
  • Haunter Lv. 34 – Ominous Wind, Dazzling Gleam, Will-O-Wisp, Venoshock.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (11)

Xavier will always start with Shuckle laying down Sticky Web to slow down your entire party. You must raise your speed higher than Mega Beedrills, as its overwhelming attacks can wipe your team. Now that you’ve crushed the bugs, it’s time to save Damian, trapped by the Abyssal Cult, to draw out you and Mew. You’ll find several cultists in the Vipek City dump located right of the town.

Battling your way through the evil cultists, you’ll have to face off in a double battle to save Damian. However, this should be a piece of cake after defeating Xavier. You’ll gain the Seed Flare ability, which allows you to cleanse toxic water accessed via your Quartz Flute.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (12)

Korill Town: The Desert Outskirts

Reaching Korill Town shouldn’t take too long; it’s a brief walk left at the Crossroads. Bearing right will lead you to Misty Way and a simple jigsaw puzzle to obtain a Mysterious Scroll. Collecting eight of these will allow you to unlock Samsara Cave to encounter Meloetta.

Entering Route 5, you are just a short walk away from the rocky Korill Town. You won’t find much in the town, although it is home to the Scientist Club. A place where you can catch fossil Pokemon!

I caught a Growlithe at the Crossroads and evolved it into Arcanine with the Fire Stone given to me in Midna Town.

Roggan Town: In the Heart of the Desert

To get to Roggan Town, you will need to fight through the Rezzai Desert and fight Damian, your rival. After learning about the Sky Cultists’ plot to kill the Auger, you will encounter him. As you’re about to leave the cave exit, you’ll bump into Damian, so make sure your party is healed!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (13)
  • Crawdaunt Lv. 42 – Razor Shell, Swift, Swords Dance, Taunt.
  • Metang Lv. 43 – Psychic, Zen Headbutt, Scary Face, Agility.
  • Eevee Lv. 44 – Double-Edge, Charm, Baton Pass, Last Resort.
  • Shaymin Lv. 43 – Leech Seed, Magical Leaf, Sweet Scent, Synthesis.
  • Luxray Lv. 42 – Crunch, Confuse Ray, Roar, Thunder Fang.

This can be a tough fight if you still need an answer for Damian’s Metang. However, his Eevee is weak and easy to knock out due to its low stats and being a first-stage Pokemon. Upon exiting the Rezzai Cavern, you’ll enter the last area of the desert. Simply travel north to the cave door to enter Roggan Town.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (14)

While technically still in the desert, Roggan Town is home to the Torren region’s Game Corner. You can win valuable prizes such as Pokemon as Goomy and Eevee.

Heading north will lead you out of the desert into the short Route 6. You can b-line it to Route 7 and face minimal trainers. Or diverge off track, heading right before the fence maze. You can find the Protector item to evolve Rhydon into Rhyperior later in the game.

  • Route 7 is even shorter than Route 6 but is home to several wild Ghost-type Pokemon.

Helios City: Secrets Revealed

Welcome to Helios City, a bustling city with a dark secret soon to be revealed. On arriving in Helios City, I recommend talking to the old lady on the bench to learn some moves for your Eevee if you plan on Mega evolving it. Next, head to the Helios City Department Store. It’s the big tower to the right of the Pokemon Centre; you can’t miss it!

You will need to travel to the Black Market to infiltrate into the Jade Tower, as its currently blocked by Sky Cultists. Before doing this, I took a trip to the store’s top floor to grab some valuable battle items and a Water Stone to evolve my Staryu into a Starmie.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (15)

To get to the Black Market, you must descend the stairs into the store’s basem*nt. Navigate through the obstacles moving south in the room and drop down into the Helios Sewers. The sewers are dark and maze-like, and you can find many items here. Traveling left while hugging the wall up a will is the most direct route to the Black Market entrance. Traveling up, you should come across a barrel in the corner with nowhere else to walk right, and you should pass toxic water step on the fan to enter the Black Market.

Before entering the Jade Tower, you will be reunited with Reutra, the Perfection Cult leader, and meet Taen, a Perfection cultist and, by the looks of it, the only other cult member. You’ll have to battle him before you can advance the story.

  • Kyurem Lv. 44 – Ice Beam, Scary Face, Dragons Breath, Slash.
  • Pyroar Lv. 44 – Crunch, Flamethrower, Endeavor, Echoed Voice.
  • Mega Stunfisk Lv. 45 – Thunderbolt, Endure, Muddy Water, Bounce.
  • Grumpig Lv. 45 – Psyshock, Teeter Dance, Rest, Snore.

Taen can be a difficult battle if you have yet to catch up with his team’s levels or have an answer for his Mega Stunfisk or Kyurem. Note that a solid Fighting-type move will deal super-effective damage to Kyurem as my Pangoro walloped it with a Vital Throw.

  • I highly recommend saving before interacting in the story cutscene. You will have to navigate back to the Perfection Cult base whenever you are defeated by Taen.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (16)

Upon defeating Taen, you will be rewarded with the Mega Ring, a Key Item that enables you to Mega Evolve Pokemon. Making your way up the stairs, you will find an Eevite to Mega Evolve Eevee sitting in the open cell.

Jade Tower: The Plot Thickens

Finally, at Jade Tower, you’ve got a gym leader and boss to fight coming up. I’d recommend sneaking past the Sky Cultists to the top floor, where you can heal your injured team by talking to Chancey. Note that if you lose a battle, you will still spawn back at the Helios City Pokemon Centre, so be careful.

  • I’d recommend backtracking to defeat the Sky Cultists for experience before meeting up with Damian.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (17)

Gym Battle #3 – Summit Badge

Meeting up with Damian and the Auger, you will discover a pivotal moment in the story. Leading to a battle with East, the Helios City gym leader. He specializes in Flying-type Pokemon and honestly wasn’t too much trouble for my Zebrastrika. However, his team has a vast move pool; check it out below:

  • Skarmory Lv. 46 – Spikes, Stealth Rock, Whirlwind, Toxic.
  • Noivern Lv. 48 Dragon Pulse, Flamethrower, Focus Blast, Air Slash.
  • Kingdra Lv. 47 Hydro Pump, Draco Meteor, Focus Energy, Icy Wind.
  • Mega Altaria Lv. 49 – Fire Blast, Hyper Voice, Cotton Guard, Dragon Pulse.
  • Talonflame Lv. 47 – Flare Blitz, Brave Bird, Swords Dance, Roost.
  • Gliscor Lv. 48 Earthquake, Substitute, Roost, Protect.

East will always open up with Skarmory and will attempt to lay down Spike and Stealth Rock traps. Skarmory’s Sturdy ability is really annoying as it stops you from knocking it out with one move. Guaranteeing Skarmory using an arena trap move.

  • Once defeating East, you will have to fight Jaern but make sure to heal your team at the Chancey!

Jaern will only use Mega Rayquaza in battle; however, it can do some severe damage at level fifty. If you had a solid Electric-type to deal with East, you should easily defeat him.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (18)

Utira Town: Spooky Libraries and Prophecies.

With three gym badges now in your possession, it’s time to move forward onto Utira Town. You must swim from the Helios City shore to a small island to get there. Originally blocked by Sky Cultists, you are free to press on to Cave of Steam. However, before you do so, pick up Flash by talking to the NPC south of the island.

The Cave of Steam is filled with Fire and Rock-types, so I trained my Starmie up a bit here. The cave is not long, and you’ll pop out into Utira Town after beating the lady NPC near the exit. The Utira Library is right from the Pokemon Centre and our next destination.

At the entrance, you’ll bump into your rival, Nora, who has grown stronger and challenges you to a battle:

  • Doublade Lv. 48 – Night Slash, Iron Head, Power Trick, Iron Defense.
  • Floette Lv. 48 – Petal Blizzard, Aromatherapy, Misty Terrain, Moonblast.
  • Leavanny Lv. 49 – Leaf Blade, Swords Dance, Entrainment, X-Scissor.
  • Mega Flygon Lv. 50 – Dragon Claw, Bug Buzz, Dragon Rush, Hyper Beam.
  • Celebi Lv. 49 – Magical Leaf, Ancient Power, Baton Pass, Natural Gift.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (19)

After the fight, head into the library and move through the rooms until you reach a door leading into an older part of the library. This area contains several Ghost-type trainers and Ghost-type Pokemon. These rooms are easy to navigate; however, reaching the end will lead to another boss battle.

Discovering an artifact, an Ancient Oracle appears and challenges you to a battle:

  • Claydoll Lv. 49 – Earth Power, Hyper Beam, Sandstorm, Power Split.
  • Aegislash Lv. 50 – Sacred Sword, Swords Dance, King’s Shield, Aerial Ace.
  • Jellicent Lv. 49 – Ominous Wind, Rain Dance, Brine, Hex.
  • Delphox Lv. 50 – Will-O-Wisp, Psyshock, Mystical Fire, Flamethrower.
  • Mega Banette Lv. 51 – Embargo, Shadowball, Sucker Punch, Snatch.

After defeating the Ancient Oracle, he will reveal bittersweet information regarding the story. Damian and Nora move on to Sonata City. However, you will have to diverge to Miara Town before and face the Abyssal Cult before you can do that.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (20)

Miara Town and Whirl Island

Heading south from Utira Town, you’ll enter Route 8. A short route filled with mazes, elevated houses, and even a sleeping Snorlax blocking the path to Sonata City. Stop at the house with the bug catcher as you go through the route. He will give you the HM Fly. It’s very easy to miss.

Entering Miara Town, you will find Audrey, the Abyssal Cult Leader, scheming to steal an artifact from the local museum. Naturally, if you head straight to the museum, you’ll have to pay a small entry fee. I’d recommend talking to the fossil maniac, as he will turn fossils into Pokemon. The bald NPC underneath him will give you a Plume Fossil, so go ahead and get yourself a free Archen.

To find Audrey, head down the stairs in the museum and talk to the security guard guarding the Blue Orb. Audrey will appear and steal the Tidal Bell hidden within to wake Lugia at Whirl Island. After the cutscene, walk south and exit. Use the Instant Lapras and head south once more to get to Stormy Seas and Whirl Island.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (21)
  • If you travel west in Miara Town, you will find a sailor who will take you to the Kalos region trading post, where burglars have plundered goods from the station. This is a side quest. However, I recommend completing it as you will get some valuable experience for the upcoming Audrey battle, score some money, and encounter a Delta Axew!

The most direct route to Audrey at Whirl Island is by entering the Northwest entrance, marked by a dive spot.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (22)

Inside, work way around in a zigzag fashion battling the many Abyssal cultists. You will eventually reach a ladder descending into Lugia’s lair, where you’ll face Audrey.

  • I recommend breaking any rocks with Rock Smash, as these rocks can supply you with valuable items such as fossils. Moreover, you can evolve Eevee into Glaceon at Whirl Island!

Now you must face Audrey and her newly captured Lugia:

  • Lanturn Lv. 51 – Volt Switch, Toxic, Scald, Thunder Wave.
  • Ludicolo Lv. 51 – Giga Drain, Rain Dance, Ice Beam, Hydro Pump.
  • Swampert Lv. 52 – Earthquake, Curse, Waterfall, Ice Punch.
  • Kingdra Lv. 52 – Focus Energy, Hydro Pump, Ice Beam, Draco Meteor.
  • Mega Crawdaunt Lv. 53 – Dragon Dance, Superpower, Knock Off, Aqua Jet.
  • Lugia Lv. 54 – Aeroblast, Ice Beam, Dragon Pulse, Psychic.

My Espeon worked really well, thanks to its Magic Bounce ability. Audrey’s Mega Crawdaunt posed the biggest threat to my team, thanks to its Fighting-type and Dark-type moves. Once you’ve defeated Audrey, use an Escape Rope to return to the surface and swim back to Miara Town.

Sonata City: Harmony and Hospitals

Returning to Miara Town, you will be stopped by the security guard from the museum, and he will give you the poke flute. This key item will allow you to wake up the Snorlax sleeping on Route 8, blocking the entrance to Route 9. Catch or defeat Snorlax and enter Route 9.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (23)

Sonata City is home to the PokePon, an out-of-place machine that allows you to win valuable items by participating in your Pokemon. The town is also home to the region’s race course, where you’ll be able to participate in your Pokemon in a racing minigame.

Gym Battle #4 – Paragon Badge

Harmony specializes in Normal and Fairy-type Pokémon. The flower patch on the right is the most direct route to Harmony. Simply walk through the second path and across to the left patch. Follow the path to the patch above and crossover to the right. Defeat the trainer with the umbrella and walk back down onto the first patch, and the patch should lead you up along the right-hand side to Harmony.

Now its time to battle Harmony:

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (24)
  • Cinccino Lv. 53 – Tail Slap, Rock Blast, Knock Off, Bullet Seed.
  • Sylveon Lv. 54 – Hyper Voice, Shadow Ball, Hidden Power, Psyshock.
  • Azumaril Lv. 53 – Aqua Jet, Superpower, Play Rough, Waterfall.
  • Mega Miltank Lv. 55 – Body Slam, Earthquake, Curse, Rollout.
  • Togekiss Lv. 54 – Air Slash, Dazzling Gleam, Thunder Wave, Nasty Plot.
  • Gardevoir Lv. 54 – Focus Blast, Signal Beam, Psychic, Destiny Bond.

Battling Harmony is fun, and her mega Miltank is a force to be reckoned with; however, it’s no match for my Hawlucha’s high jump kick. I recommend poison and fighting types for this gym. Harmony’s Cinccino is not a Pokemon to scoff at. Its diverse moveset and Skill Link ability enable it to unleash deadly attacks that can one-shot your Pokemon if you’re not careful!

Nora will appear after defeating Harmony and alert you that the Sonata Hills Hospital power has been cut. The group runs to the hospital with the patients’ lives at risk. Only to find the Taen and the Reukra in the basem*nt. Harmony agrees to Cult Perfection’s plan and heads up to her dad’s room. His room is the first room on the left of the second floor. Reukra Infects Harmony’s dad with the Pokerus virus attempting to improve his critical condition, but this comes at a cost. Damian gets infected by accident.

With the cutscene over, it’s time to head onto Kepler City to face Anastasia, the fifth gym leader in the region. But not before facing Audrey, the Abyssal Cult leader, one last time!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (25)

Kepler City

After this ordeal, the rubbish was finally cleared to Route 10 and Malestrom 9. Route 10 is swampy and wet; you can find a hidden grotto on the tree line above the lampost. Battling your way through Route 10, you’ll be led to Malestrom 9, a vast lake, to get to Kepler City and swim to the other side.

Entering Kepler City, head towards the Observatory located to the right of the city’s Pokemon gym. Here you will bump into Anastasia, the city’s gym leader. However, before challenging her, you must defeat the Abyssal Cult equipped with Scuba Gear and head back to Malestrom 9.

Dive at Malestrom 9 and enter the underwater cave. Ascend at the light patch of water to enter the base. Use the Quartz Flute to transform into an Abyssal cultist, enabling you to walk through the barrier. Like many evil teams in Pokemon games, their base is filled with teleports.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (26)

You can still battle cultists even though you’re in disguise. To get to Audrey, you will need to enter the room featuring the Sewer Control System and take the scientist uniform from the table. Use Mew to transform into a scientist and head to the room with the green barrier. Now disguised as a scientist, you can proceed to the lab. Talk to the second scientist to discover the Sewer Control System “Proteus.”

Input the password into the terminal to activate the sewer system. This will enable you to access the room with Audrey’s DNA to transform into her and cross Alakazam’s barrier in the Sewer Control System room. The Abyssal cultists will actually change their dialogue when talking to them as Audrey. This was funny and had a great touch of detail!

Cross Alakazam’s barrier to getting to Audrey’s room, prompting the final battle with Audrey!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (27)
  • Lanturn Lv. 55 – Toxic, Scald, Volt Switch, Thunder Wave.
  • Ludicolo Lv. 55 – Rain Dance, Hydro Pump, Giga Drain, Ice Beam.
  • Primordial Kyogre Lv. 58 – Calm Mind, Origin Pulse, Thunder, Ice Beam.
  • Alakazam Lv. 56 – Psychic, Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Substitute.
  • Kingdra Lv. 56 – Hydro Pump, Agility, Draco Meteor, Focus Energy.
  • Mega Crawdaunt Lv. 57 – Dragon Dance, Aqua Jet, Superpower, Knock off.

Defeating Audrey will reveal that Damian, now heavily infected with the Pokerus virus, is her son. Defeated, Kyogre is released and kills Audrey, in turn destroying the Abyssal Cult. The scene opens with your character discussing the events with Harmony in Sonata City. Once this is over, you’ll be free to take on the Kepler City Pokemon gym.

Gym Battle #5 – Circuit Badge

Anastasia specializes in Steel and Electric-type Pokemon. To navigate through the gym, you must walk along narrow pipes that lead to dead ends. If you’re struggling to navigate the narrow beams, follow these steps to get to Anastasia:

Now you’re ready to battle:

  • Klefki Lv. 56 – Swagger, Foul Play, Thunder Wave, Substitute.
  • Magnezone Lv. 57 – Volt Switch, Thunderbolt, Flash Cannon, Hidden Power.
  • Electivire Lv. 56 – Ice Punch, Cross Chop, Double Team, Wild Charge.
  • Rotom (Water form) Lv. 57 – Hydro Pump, Volt Switch, Will-O-Wisp, Hidden Power.
  • Aegislash Lv. 57 – King’s Shield, Flash Cannon, Shadow Sneak, Shadow Ball.
  • Mega Metagross Lv. 58 – Earthquake, Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Bullet Punch.

Leaving the gym, you’ll see Taen enter a secret workshop hidden in a wall underneath the gym. Heal your Pokemon and enter the workshop. Inside you will find out that Anastasia has created armor for Taen’s Zekrom. Orion enters, prompting a battle, he loses, but it’s your turn next. Remember that Taen’s Zekrom has increased Defense stats thanks to its armor.

  • Grumpig Lv. 56 – Taunt, Focus Blast, Thunder Wave, Psychic.
  • Pyroar Lv. 56 – Fire Blast, Hidden Power, Will-O-Wisp, Hyper Voice.
  • Mega Charizard X Lv. 57 – Dragon Dance, Earthquake, Flare Blitz, Dragon Claw.
  • Luxray Lv. 57 – Wild Charge, Superpower, Facade, Crunch.
  • Kyurem Lv. 58 – Substitute, Ice Beam, Dragon Claw, Roost.
  • Zekrom Lv. 58 – Fusion Bolt, Draco Meteor, Outrage, Volt Switch.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (28)

After defeating Taen, you are tasked with meeting Orion in Selene City Ruins. Before you embark on the next adventure, make sure to talk to the scientist in the workshop, as he will teach you Pokemon Electric-type and Steel-type moves. Moreover, you can transform Rotom into any form in the workshop by interacting with the red appliances.

  • You can purchase armor for Flygon, Leavanny, and Tyranitar from Anastasia. Armor can be given to hold by Pokemon to increase its defense stats!

Nasca Town and the Safari Zone

Nasca Town is your next destination; defeating Taen unlocks Route 11, a short route divided by diving spots. Nasca Town is a small countryside settlement home to the Safari Zone and not much else. I’d recommend talking to the NPC with Bulbasaur, Charmander, and Squirtle in his house. He will tell you that you lost an old photo in the Safari Zone. Returning it to him will grant you to take one of his Pokemon. You can find the Old Photo item on the boulder in the desert enclosure marked by dark sand to its left and a small rock to its right.

I spent some time in the Safari Zone because there are some rare Pokémon to catch, such as Deino. This Pokémon can only be found in the patch of grass marked with the NPC with red hair. He will even state that he is looking for one himself.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (29)

Safari Zone Tips

  • Throw bait to decrease the chances of a Pokemon running away, and throw rocks to increase the chances of catching the Pokemon while increasing its chance of fleeing from battle.
  • Thundurus can be caught in the Safari Zone. However, you will need the Tesseract Quartz Flute ability to get to its lair.

When You’ve finished your Pokémon catching spree, Head through the tunnel by the Poketaxi, this will lead to Murk Forest. There are three exits to the forest:

  • A secret entrance is found in the top left of the woods leading to a Mega Stones merchant.
  • An entrance to a small negligible area can be found north of the woods.
  • The east exit will lead you to Hekate Town, the next stop on your quest.

Hekate Town: Dealing with the Infernal Cult

Hekate Town is a small town that uses magical portals to get around. Proceed through the bottom portal and prepare your team to fight the Infernal Cult in the Fiery Caverns. The Fiery Caverns is filled with cultists and their leader Zenith; however, you will need to solve some boulder-pushing puzzles before you can get there.

The first puzzle is simple, ignore the first ladder and proceed north. You will eventually see a hole in the floor and, further ahead, a boulder. Push the boulder into the hole to enable you to skip across the lava.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (30)

The second puzzle is a bit trickier. Fight your way through the floor and head east. You will discover a boulder sitting on top of a ridge and push the boulder down into the lava maze.

The goal here is to get the boulder to fill in the gap to stop the lava from flowing below. To do this, push the boulder right all the way down the path until you can push it from above. Push it to the next path, and then push it left back. Next, get the boulder to the left of the maze near the jump-down ridge. Next, push the boulder down until it’s in line with the flowing lava, and push it right until you fill the lava gap!

Don’t worry the next puzzle is a lot easier. The next goal is to push the boulder into the chasm with a bridge. This will raise the bridge up so you can proceed to Zenith.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (31)
  • Push the boulder down, and next, push it west and across the bridge.
  • Push the boulder right at the end of the bridge and north, and push it around the corner, ensuring you have room to get around.
  • Simply push it into the chasm.

Now you will be able to face Zenith, the Infernal cult leader:

  • Blaziken Lv. 59 – Blaze Kick, Low Kick, Swords Dance, Brave Bird.
  • Excadrill Lv. 59 – Earthquake, Ironhead, Rock Slide, Swords Dance.
  • Volcarona Lv. 60 – Quiver Dance, Giga Drain, Fire Blast, Bug Buzz.
  • Chandelure Lv. 60 – Overheat, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Substitute.
  • Mega Macargo Lv. 61 – Amnesia, Toxic, Lava Plume, Acid Armor.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (32)

I recommend saving the game before facing Zenith. While Water-type Pokemon will counter his team, you won’t be able to damage Mega Macargo with Water-type attacks, no thanks to its Vaporization ability.

Once Zenith is defeated, you’ll unlock Route 12 and Selene City, so use an Escape Rope and get moving!

Selene City

Selene City is the next significant town home to Diana, the Selene City gym leader specializing in Psychic and Ghost-type Pokemon. However, before challenging her to a battle, you must take on Persephone, the Darkrai cult leader, at the gym’s entrance.

  • Mega Zoroark Lv. 62 – Night Daze, Focus Blast, Flamethrower, Grass Knot.
  • Spiritomb Lv. 58 – Sucker Punch, Will-O-Wisp, Foul Play, Pursuit.
  • Greninja Lv. 59 – Hidden Power, Dark Pulse, Ice Beam, Grass Knot.
  • Hydreigon Lv. 64 – Dark Pulse, Dragon Pulse, Thunder Wave, Flamethrower.
  • Gengar Lv. 61 – Shadow Ball, Sludge Bomb, Dream Eater, Hypnosis.

Mega Zoroark can transform into Mega Gengar, so you’ll have to fight two Mega evolutions in this battle. However, Persephone will always lead with Zoroark. Fighting and Fairy-type Pokemon will demolish her team. Alternatively, you could brute force her with faster Ghost-type Pokemon using the Quick Claw or Choice Scarf.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (33)

Defeating Persephone will unlock the Selene City gym. You’ll be happy to know that this gym has no puzzles. There are, however, lots of trainers. I’d trained up my Hydreigon here before fighting Diana.

Moreover, a Delta Liepard (Fairy/Ghost-type) can be caught in Selene City at night. A fantastic Pokemon to fight against Diana. However, you’ll need to talk to several NPCs:

  • Say “No” to the old man on the second floor of the Pokemon Centre.
  • Interact with the ghost at night in Selene City.
  • Talk to the NPC in the house left of the Cresselia statue.
  • Talk to the woman near the Poketaxi.
  • Talk to the girl next to the Pokemon gym.
  • Talk to the NPC in the house with a Magnezone.

There is only one Delta Liepard in the game so save before attempting to catch it!

Gym Battle #6 – Dreamland Badge

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (34)

Diana Selene City Gym Leader:

  • Sableye Lv. 61 – Trick, Knock off, Will-O-Wisp, Foul Play.
  • Gardevoir Lv. 61 – Moonblast, Hidden Power, Focus Blast, Psyshock.
  • Chandelure Lv. 62 – Overheat, Energy Ball, Shadow Ball, Substitute.
  • Gengar Lv. 62 – Shadow Ball, Focus Blast, Icy Wind, Sludge Wave.
  • Cresselia Lv. 64 – Calm Mind, Ice Beam, Psyshock, Signal Beam.
  • Mega Gothelite Lv. 63 Calm Mind, Psyshock, Dark Pulse, Shadow Ball.

My team’s stars, Starmie and Hydreigon, no pun intended! We were excellent in this battle; however, it was a difficult battle nonetheless as Diana countered my team heavily, and my only option was to be faster!

Dragon Ruins and Oranos Town

The Dragon Ruins is a tiny location with lots of elevation. Make your way through the maze-like ruins until you reach the summit. There are lots of hidden items around this area, so stay vigilant. The area is infested with wild Charizard, so grab one if you fancy.

At the summit, you’ll have to fight Taen again; however, this time, you’ll be fighting alongside Nora in a double battle. As a result, this is one of the most straightforward boss battles in the game:

  • Metagross Lv. 65 – Bullet Punch, Pursuit, Hammer Arm, Meteor Mash.
  • Salamance LV. 65 – Outrage, Earthquake, Aqua Tail, Iron Tail.
  • Mega Typholsion Lv. 67 – Fire Blast, Extrasensory, Focus Blast, Hidden Power.
  • Luxray Lv. 66 – Wild Charge, Facade, Crunch, Superpower.
  • Zekrom Lv. 68 – Fusion Bolt, Draco Meteor, Outrage, Volt Switch.
  • Kyurem Lv. 68 – Draco Meteor, Ice Beam, Focus Blast, Fusion Flare.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (35)

Nora carried me through this battle; her Mega Flygon destroyed Taen’s team, so don’t worry if your team is defeated unless your playing on Nuzlocke!

After defeating Taen, Nora will give you one of Celebi’s hair unlocking the Tesseract ability. This ability allows you to interact with glowing orbs in the world to unlock new areas and items.

Oranos Town serves little more than to progress the story. Arriving in the town, head to the town gathering. After this, travel north and enter the building with the line of NPCs. There’s a brief interaction with Zenith before he flees. Battle the brainwashed lady to unlock Route 15 and Amphitrite City.

Amphitrite City: Catching Mew!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (36)

Amphitrite City is a major city in the story; arriving at the city, you’ll meet Nora and Calreath, the city’s gym leader. However, before challenging Calreath, you must first venture to the Crystal Cave.

Head south until you reach the body of water and surf onto the water to get to the cave. The cave is filled with colorful crystals. The Tesseract ability will have to be used to get deeper into the cave.

Soon, you’ll meet with Nora, but the real prize is being able to catch Mew!

Now with Mew in your squad, you can challenge Calreath at the Pokemon gym. He specializes in Water, Dragon, and Electric-type Pokemon. To get to Calreath in the gym, dive in the dive patch at the top right of the gym.

Gym Battle #7 – Rainstorm Badge

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (37)
  • Mega Politoad Lv. 74 – Scald, Psychic, Hidden Power, Ice Beam,
  • Heliolisk Lv. 72 – Surf, Grass Knot, Hyper Voice, Volt Switch.
  • Dragonite Lv. 73 – Earthquake, Hurricane, Thunder, Roost.
  • Kabutops Lv. 74 – Stone Edge, Low Kick, Swords Dance, Waterfall.
  • Goodra Lv. 73 – Muddy Water, Toxic, Rest, Infestation.
  • Manaphy Lv. 75 – Psychic, Tail Glow, Scald, Rain Dance.

After defeating Calreath, Zenith will order his mind-controlled vaccine zombies to attack Calreath with little time to lose you and Nora’s head to mount Rose. However, Taen intercepts and takes you to the Perfection base. Another battle with Taen ensues. This is a difficult battle. You will have to travel back to the Perfection Base in Helios City if you are defeated. Equipping Mew with the Quick Claw and using the Me First move in battle is a great strategy to counter Super-Effective attacks before they land on you.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (38)
  • Poliwrath Lv. 73 – Waterfall, Focus Punch, Encore, Substitute.
  • Gallade Lv. 73 – Swords Dance, Close Combat, Knock Off, Zen Headbutt.
  • Delta Darmanitian Lv 74 – Knock Off, U-Turn, Rock Slide, Shadow Claw.
  • Mega Zebrastrika Lv. 75 – Thunderbolt, Overheat, Dazzling Gleam, Hidden Power.
  • Kyurem Lv. 75 – Dragon Pulse, Ice Beam, Substitute, Roost.
  • Mewtwo Lv. 76 – Ice Beam, Psychic, Focus Blast, Calm Mind.

Deyraan Town: Atop of Mount Rose.

Meet Nora at the bottom of Mount Rose and proceed to the summit. Mount Rose is filled with trainers. Fortunately, there are no puzzles. You’ll enter Deyraan Town at the summit, where it snows 365 days a year. However, it’s about to get red hot in the Mount Rose Crater. Proceed to the crater and Infernal Cult base, where your group is captured.

In your cell, obey Zenith’s commands. Next, annoy the guard by talking to him; eventually, he will battle you. Victorious, disguise yourself as a cultist, and press on. You will spawn back at your cell if you are defeated in the base.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (39)

Eventually, you’ll get to Zenith, prompting a battle:

  • Excadrill Lv. 76 – Swords Dance, Iron Head, Aerial Ace.
  • Chandelure Lv. 76 – Shadow Ball, Overheat, Energy Ball, Substitute.
  • Heatran Lv. 79 – Lava Plume, Roar, Stealth Rock, Toxic.
  • Volcarona Lv. 77 – Bug Buzz, Fire Blast, Quiver Dance, Giga Drain.
  • Mega Blaziken 78 – Flare Blitz, Low Kick, Protect, Swords Dance.
  • Primordial Groudon 79 – Lava Plume, Precipice Blades, Stone Edge, Dragon Tail.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (40)

Zenith’s Heatran can cause your team many problems with a combination of Toxic, Stealth Rock, and Roar. Knock it out as soon as possible with a Water, Ground, or Fighting-type move. Moreover, Primordial Groudon can be tricky as Water-type moves will not affect it due to its Desolate Land ability.

After completing the Infernal Cult base and acquiring the Heart Swap ability, look for the Manaphy statue in town by the waterfall to proceed to the next Route and Narra Town.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (41)

Narra Town and the Dream Realm

Closing in on the Elite Four, we are rapidly approaching the end of the main game. Narra Town has a valuable market where you can acquire new Mega Stones and battle items. I highly recommend you spend some cash here for the upcoming battles.

To progress the story, head south to the Narra Border Cave. You’ll bump into Malde. This will unlock the Darkrai Cultist base in Shade Forest. Return to the base and head to the sacrificial room. Persephone will teleport you to the Dream Realm. Where you must fight her:

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (42)
  • Mega Spiritomb Lv. 80 – Shadow Punch, Will-O-Wisp, Shadow Sneak.
  • Gengar Lv. 79 – Dazzling Gleam, Sludge Bomb, Shadow Ball.
  • Metagross Lv. 79 – Meteor Mash, Zen Headbutt, Ice Punch, Hammer Arm.
  • Alakazam Lv. 78 – Shadow Ball, Energy Ball, Focus Blast, Psyshock.
  • Houndoom Lv. 78 – Nasty Plot, Fire Blast, Dark Pulse, Hidden Power.
  • Hydreigon Lv. 79 – Draco Meteor, Dark Pulse, Psychic, Fire Blast.

After defeating Persephone, you are free to head into Prion Town. Make sure to heal your team at the Chancey. Before continuing to Cortisol Road, where you must fight Damian:

  • Deoxys Lv. 80 – Psycho Boost, Low Kick, Knock Off, Extreme Speed.
  • Mega Eevee Lv. 80 – Moonblast, Volt Switch, Psychic, Scald.
  • Metagross Lv. 80 – Meteor Mash, Earthquake, Bullet Punch, Zen Headbutt.
  • Shaymin Lv. 81 – Air Slash, Energy Ball, Leach Seed, Substitute.

Gym Battle #8 – Tartarus Badge

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (43)

You’ll enter a second town after the battle, heal your team at the Chancey on the stairs, and head into Rem Ocean by entering the cave. However, make sure to talk to the NPC with dark hair west of the town to obtain Dark Pulse. You’re going to need it for the final gym battle. Rem Ocean is a short route leading to Erebus City. I trained my Hydreigon here for the upcoming gym battle.

The Erebus City gym requires you to solve puzzles by reflecting the light of mirrors to open doors. The first two puzzles are simple enough but don’t worry. Here is a video displaying the correct light route.

  • Greninja Lv. 80 – Spikes, Toxic Spikes, Shadow Sneak, Taunt.
  • Bisharp Lv. 81 – Swords Dance, Knock Off, Iron Head, Sucker Punch.
  • Drapion Lv. 81 – Poison Jab, Earthquake, Ice Fang, Knock Off.
  • Tyranitar Lv.81 – Superpower, Crunch, Stone Edge, Ice Punch.
  • Spiritomb Lv. 81 – Will-O-Wisp, Sucker Punch, Shadow Sneak, Knock Off.
  • Mega Hydreigon Lv. 82 – Dark Pulse, Fire Blast, Dragon Pulse, Roost.

This is a very challenging battle. Adam’s Mega Hydreigon will give you no quarter in battle. However, the battle is a lot easier if your Pokemon is faster. Using the Quick Claw and Choice Scarf, I could get in my attacks before Adam and defeat him. Spiritomb will always use Will-O-Wisp first, so use this turn to heal a party member. Moreover, Greninja will transform into Ground-type in the first battle round using Spikes.

Defeating Adam will reward you with the Hyperspace Hole, allowing you to teleport between realms. To leave the Dream Realm, use this ability in the cave behind the gym.

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (44)

Defeating the Giratina Cult

Congratulations on obtaining all eight badges. You’re probably excited to take on the Elite Four. However, before you can do so, you’ll have to return to Ampharite City to defeat Jaern and Giratina Cult!

Flying to Ampharite City, you’ll discover a battle between the Giratina cult leader and Jaern. Jaern loses and retreats to the Crystal Base. Follow him and finally put an end to him:

  • Aegislash Lv. 80 – King’s Shield, Shadow Ball, Iron Head, Sacred Sword.
  • Goodra Lv. 80 – Draco Meteor, Thunder, Blizzard, Fire Blast.
  • Arcanine Lv. 81 – Extreme Speed, Flare Blitz, Close Combat, Wild Charge.
  • Lucario Lv. 81 – Aura Sphere, Stone Edge, Extreme Speed, Dragon Pulse.
  • Salamance Lv. 81 – Draco Meteor, Fire Blast, Hydro Pump, Dragon Pulse.
  • Mega Rayquaza Lv. 83 – Dragon Ascent, Extreme Speed, V-Create, Waterfall.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (45)

Once the battle is over, head deeper into the cave and use the Hyperspace Hole ability to enter the portal after talking to the Giratina Cult leader. You’ll have to navigate through short areas defeating several Giratina Cultists. I recommend healing your team in Pokemon Tower by walking on the strange pattern on the floor.

Reaching the Thrown of Hegemon, it’s time to save Nora and battle Nyx, the Giratina Cult leader. Note that the typing chart is flipped in this location, so Water-types are now Super-Effective against Grass-types, etc.

  • Aurorus Lv. 83 – Thunderbolt, Earth Power, Blizzard, Hyper Voice.
  • Breloom Lv. 82 – Bullet Seed, Spore, Mach Punch, Swords Dance.
  • Greninja Lv. 83 – Scald, Ice beam, Dark Pulse, Grass Knot.
  • Garchomp Lv. 83 – Earthquake, Outrage, Shadow Claw, Fire Blast.
  • Exeggutor Lv. 83 – Leaf Storm, Giga Drain, Psyshock, Hidden Power.
  • Mega Kangaskhan Lv. 84 – Earthquake, Return, Power-Up-Punch, Fake Out.

Defeating Nyx will save Nora and prompt Giratina to spawn, allowing you a chance to catch it, so save your game! Nora will explain that there is only one left thing to do, challenge the Elite Four!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (46)

Pokemon League Challenging the Champion

It’s finally time to challenge the Elite Four to get their return to Narra Town and head west through the now unblocked route. Making your way through the route, you’ll get to Nexa Town, a tiny town outside Victory Road. Thats right, we’ve still got to get through Victory Road.

The Elite Four are super tough, and it turns out the NPCs were right! In the Pokemon League, you won’t be given the option to switch Pokemon after an opponent is knocked out. Moreover, the Elite Four’s Pokemon will scale to your highest Pokemon level!

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (47)

Eduard’s Team

  • Hippowdon Lv. 88 – Earthquake, Stealth Rock, Slack Off, Whirlwind.
  • Tyranitar Lv. 88 – Stone Edge, Crunch, Pursuit, Superpower.
  • Aegislash Lv. 89 – Shadow Sneak, Shadow Ball, King’s Shield, Sacred Sword.
  • Excardrill Lv. 89 – Swords Dance, Earthquake, Iron Head, Sandstorm.
  • Rotom (Water) Lv. 89 – Volt Switch, Will-O-Wisp, Thunderbolt, Hydro Pump.
  • Mega Cacturne 90 – Swords Dance, Seed Bomb, Sucker Punch, Superpower.
Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (48)

Eduard was the easiest Elite Four member to fight with my team. Eduard uses Hippowdon’s Sand Stream ability and Excadrill’s Sandstorm move to tick damage away from your team. His Mega Cacturne and Tyranitar can put in some severe damage; however, each time they use Superpower, their stats will decrease.

I baited Tyranitar into using Superpower, as its Choice Band item locked it into the move. Moreover, I could freely heal my team using Hydreigon to face Aegislash, as it kept using King’s Shield, expecting a Dark-type move.

Eduard will use a Max Revive on Hippowdon, as this is one of his primary Pokemon. Hippowdon will lay traps with Stealth Rock and switch your Pokemon out to deal damage from both Sandstorm and Stealth Rock.

Yuki’s Team

  • Mamoswine Lv. 88 Earthquake, Icicle Crash, Knock Off, Stealth Rock.
  • Delta Trevenant Lv. 88 – Petal Blizzard, Sacred Sword, Play Rough, Double Team.
  • Rotom (Ice) Lv. 89 – Blizzard, Thunderbolt, Substitute, Pain Split.
  • Chandelure Lv. 89 – Psychic, Fire Blast, Shadow Ball, Energy Ball.
  • Starmie Lv. 89 – Blizzard, Scald, Psyshock, Thunderbolt.
  • Mega Cryogonal Lv. 90 – Freeze Dry, Blizzard, Recover, Hidden Power.

Delta Trevenant and Mega Cryogonal are Yuki’s prized Pokemon. They can create heavy hailstorms. Combined with Mamoswine’s Stealth Rock, you’ve got a big problem. Psychic-type moves are Super-Effective against Delta Trevenant and can easily be one-shot. Cryogonal, on the other hand, will require a fast Fire-type.

Kayla’s Team

  • Smeargle Lv. 88 – Ingrain, Spore, Quiver Dance, Baton Pass.
  • Blaziken Lv. 88 – Bulk Up, Substitute, Fire Punch, Baton Pass.
  • Scizor Lv. 89 – Iron Defense, Bullet Punch, Swords Dance, Baton Pass.
  • Espeon Lv. 89 – Calm Mind, Stored Power, Substitute, Baton Pass.
  • Sylveon Lv. 89 – Calm Mind, Stored Power, Hyper Voice, Baton Pass.
  • Mega Slowbro Lv. 90 Slack Off, Scald, Psyshock, Calm Mind.

Kayla is infuriating to play as her strategy revolves around buffs. Leading with Smeargle, she will put your Pokemon to sleep with Spore to give her time to raise her stats. Most of her team utilizes the Baton Pass move to carry over stats. If you do not take her Pokemon out quickly, they will become mighty powerful. Espeon and Xatu’s Magic Bounce ability will reflect the Sleep status at Smeargle, giving you some time to get some damage in.

Trapping moves in this fight are essential; my Hydreigon’s Scary Face stopped Kayla’s Pokemon from withdrawing and carrying on the Baton Pass however if you’re using Hydreigon be careful, as Kayla’s Sylveon is a dragon killer!

London’s Team

Pokemon Insurgence Guide: Becoming the Torren Region Champion - Pok Universe (49)
  • Mega Reuniclus Lv. 90 – Psyshock, Shadowball, Calm Mind, Focus Blast.
  • Conkeldurr Lv. 88 Drain Punch, Mach Punch, Ice Punch, Poison Jab.
  • Togekiss Lv. 88 Air Slash, Thunder Wave, Dazzling Gleam, Nasty Plot.
  • Jellicent Lv. 89 Trick Room, Will-O-Wisp, Taunt, Scald.
  • Scizor Lv. 89 Bug Bite, Bullet Punch, Swords Dance, Superpower.
  • Marowak Lv. 89 Stone Edge, Earthquake, Knock Off, Counter.

London was the most brutal battle in the Elite Four; his Mega Reuniclus’s Speed Swap applies the Trick Room effect in battle. This means Pokemon with the slowest Speed stat will strike first. I recommend bringing a very slow Pokemon into battle or using moves that inflict Paralysis or Flinch on your opponent.

Reukra Champion

  • Delta Tyranitar Lv. 90 –Stone Edge, Earthquake, Crunch, Dragon Dance.
  • Delta Haxorus Lv. 90 –Iron Tail, Waterfall, Earthquake, Autotomize.
  • Kyurem Lv. 90 –Draco Meteor, Earth Power, Flash Cannon, Ice Beam.
  • Delta Mewtwo Lv. 92 Psyshock, Ice Beam, Flamethrower, Dark Pulse.
  • Delta Volcarona Lv. 91 –Dark Pulse, Sludge Wave, Roost, Giga Drain.
  • Mega Flygon Lv. 91 – Boomburst, Bug Buzz, Earth Power, Drakon Voice.

To defeat Reukra, you will need battle items to increase your Pokemon’s stats, giving you a slight edge over your opponent. However, be careful. Once you switch your Pokemon, you will lose your bonus stats. Moreover, you will need a Fairy-type if you plan on beating him, as he has a lot of Dragon types. I recommend bringing in a Pokemon that knows a Grass-type move to defeat Reukra’s Delta Haxorus.
