Previous Nicola Austin Empire Magazine With a charming central trio, an intriguing quest and plenty of magical moments, this faithful reboot is a fun (if familiar) family-friendly fantasy. 3/5 Jan 25, 2024 Full Review Leila Latif Guardian We’re off to an encouraging start! 3/5 Jan 3, 2024 Full Review Craig Mathieson Sydney Morning Herald What I like most about this adaptation of the first novel in Rick Riordan’s best-selling fantasy series is that it speaks to the audience the books were written for: younger primary school students. 3/5 Dec 29, 2023 Full Review Joey Rambles Cultured Vultures It may please die-hard fans of the books, but this Percy Jackson adaptation could’ve been so much more memorable had the characters been more likable, the episodes more exciting, and the humor more effective. 5.5/10 Feb 2, 2024 Full Review Adrian Ruiz But Why Tho? A Geek Community Despite its compelling source material, a talented cast, and the allure of Greek mythology, the series struggles to break free from the shackles of lackluster exposition-driven dialogue, inconsistent CGI, and a failure to realize its characters’ journeys. Previous Louis B Well, you see, measured on the amount of scenes of the book that were in the series, it could be titled as a faithful adaption. But measured on how they executed these scenes, it was just awful. There was no reason to remove all excitement and tension from the scenes, but however, they made the series boring af. Why and how do they know they are entering Medusas garden? Why are they avoiding the Lotus Flowers in the casino and how could they even know that they blind your senses? How do they recognize any thread before facing it? How do they know Crusty is the shop owner before even entering the shop? They are kids, 12 years old, and in contrary to the movie they are even cast as such. They should be naive, not omniscient, they should be brave but frightened, not thoughened up, and they should be a team! Not an Annabeth, who is pessimistic, all-knowing and always in a bad mood; not a Percy who is shown as kinda dumb and not remotely close to the cheeky, daredevil kind of guy in the movie and books, and not a grover who doesnt eat cans, is mentally younger than anyone and not even close to being a protector like he should be.The characters are written so badly you cant build up any relationship to them, and they also don't really make a great team at all. The best characters are the ones not in the spotlight like Mr. D, Clarisse, Ares and Percys Mother. And thats it.Even the movie, though it had nothing much to so with the books, executed the Medusa and Lotus scene so much better than the series. They had great characters with souls and great development, and just such a good vibe to it. And that said, I hated the movie for neglecting the book. But the series took every bit of excitement away and made it dull through bad written scenes and characters. Rated 1.5/5 StarsRated 1.5 out of 5 stars•02/19/24 Full Review Rosie S I haven't reread the series in a while but this show has renewed my love for it just the same! I adore the cast and I love how beautiful everything was (and of course the story was great) I can't wait for season 2! Rated 5/5 StarsRated 5 out of 5 stars•02/18/24 Full Review Guilherme D Uma ótima série, um bom elenco. The new Percy Jackson adaptation is more faithful to the source material, but that's not enough to make up for the rest. Horrible lighting, short episodes, rushed storytelling and poorly executed action turn the show into a chore to get through. The child actors are likable, but more often than not their performances feel stiff and awkward. Honestly, I had more fun with the 2010 movie. That wasn't faithful to the books at all, but at least it didn't feel lifeless and boring like this. Rated 2.5/5 StarsRated 2.5 out of 5 stars•02/18/24 Full Review Finn S Bad acting, the ploy wasn't great Rated 2/5 StarsRated 2 out of 5 stars•02/17/24 Full Review Johann D. M FAITHFUL AND THRILLING!!! This new adaptation of the fantasy book series created by Rick Riordan follows modern demigod Percy Jackson as he comes to terms with his newfound powers and leads a quest across America to prevent a war among the Olympian gods. At last, this incredible story has received a faithful and accurate adaptation of the novel, which along with the world-building, the allure of Greek mythology and the cast performances, make it a very worthy and masterful TV show with an intriguing quest and a compelling plot. Thankfully, some forgotten characters in the movies finally have found their way into the series. The visual effects are great and I definitely want them to adapt all the books. There were some differences, of course, and the dialogues were sometimes cringy, but I see this as a complete and satisfying bingeable success. Also, the opening title sequence is awesome! The story's narrator, Percy Jackson, will be familiar to most young readers, and here he retells the stories of the Greek Gods with wit and style. This book is appropriate for ages 10+, although some of the stories feature themes that are a bit more mature.
It remains imperfect, but this Disney+ adaptation caters much more to devoted fans than the 2010s movie. The new series isn't flawless, but it does much more justice to Rick Riordan's YA novels than the failed movie version. Tween demigod's rousing TV adventures have dark moments.
The percentage is based on the film's reviews aggregated by the website and assessed as positive or negative, and when all aggregated reviews are positive, the film has a 100% rating.
Percy has a half-brother named Tyson, who is a cyclops. Though Percy is related to virtually every character and creature in Greek mythology through his father Poseidon, Tyson is one of the only beings whom he acknowledges as family.
Yes, Annabeth is married to Percy Jackson, and has three kids: Cast, Ethan, and Zoe. How was Annabeth Chase born? Annabeth Chase is the half-blood daughter of the goddess Athena and the mortal man Frederick Chase.
I, however, was first introduced to the series in high school and found that while 10 may be the minimum age to read Riordan's books, there is certainly no maximum age. Even at 20 years old, the announcement of a new novel starring Percy Jackson being released on Sept. 26 filled me with great excitement.
Yes, it is worth reading, especially if that person likes humor. Although the Percy Jackson series is typically directed at younger audiences of 9–14 many people still love the series when they are adults see this article here: Why is reading Percy Jackson considered childish?
Upon returning to Camp Half Blood, Percy is betrayed by his friend Luke, son of Hermes, who turns out to be the human hero whom Kronos used for the theft. Luke poisons Percy, and tells him before leaving that Kronos will rise and destroy the age of the gods. Western Civilization is unraveling.
Riordan claims that Nico is 15 years old. However, that is incorrect unless he is retconning his own story. Nico was 10 years old in the Titan's Curse (takes place about 2007) and The Sun and the Star takes place four years later (in 2011). Nico would actually be 14 years old.
More Stories By Katherine. The Percy Jackson and the Olympians team isn't quite ready to look for a new Zeus. In the Season 1 finale of the Disney+ series, the late Lance Reddick played the Greek god in an extensive scene with series lead Walker Scobell, as Percy faces Zeus atop Mount Olympus.
This has been happening for years. The PR firm, named Bunker 15, is said to pay as much as $50.00 for a single Rotten Tomatoes review. The payments, which aren't typically disclosed, are usually given to obscure critics who happen to be part of a pool tracked by Rotten Tomatoes.
Because it's “relatively” easy to get a 100% score after that first handful of reviews (five is the minimum count for a movie to get its Tomatometer), every film listed here has at least crossed the Certified Fresh threshold.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians is rated TV-PG, but it might be disturbing for some younger kids. Percy Jackson and the Olympians is rated TV-PG, which basically means it's parental guidance suggested.
Percy Jackson will be embarking on another quest to protect Camp Half-Blood. Disney Branded Entertainment's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series has been officially renewed for Season 2 at Disney+.
Over 180 million copies of the complete Percy Jackson book series have been sold. The series hit the bookshelves of over 35 countries and has been translated into 37 languages.
