Warhammer Community has revealed new models and updates for the Adeptus Custodes faction in Warhammer 40,000. The new Shield-Captain model with Pyrithite Spear, Adeptus Custodes Battlforce Box Set, and 10th Edition 40k Codex are all on the way, providing players with new units, rules, and background information. It’s a great time to be a Custodes hobbyist!

GW Reveals New Shield-Captain 40k Model, Custode Army Box, & Codex

Warhammer Community gifted the latest on the new Adeptus Custodes 40k models on Warhammer World’s Anniversary 2024.

New Adeptus Custodes Shield-Captain

Shield-Captains rank among the greatest warriors in all the known galaxy, equipped with superlative strategic abilities and combat prowess – not to mention an armoury more finely wrought than any other in the Imperium. With an absolute mastery of weapons and will, Shield-Captains are large and very much in charge.

TheCustodian GuardandCustodian Wardensboxes both include the option to build one of your precious warriors as a Shield-Captain – but this new plastic miniature presents a striking standalone alternative, featuring a new loadout and a choice of a helmeted or bare head.

The new Shield-Captain model with Pyrithite Spear is super sweet, featuring a new loadout and an option to choose between a helmeted or bare head. The plume coming from their back is also a nice touch, making it appear even if you choose the unhelmeted version.

Naturally, the greatest defence is a good offence, and a devastating pyrithite spear adds some serious offence to the Shield-Captain’s arsenal. This opulent weapon dates back to the earliest ages of the Imperium – an elegant power spear which trades the traditional Custodian bolt caster for a high-power melta beam to deliver some eye-watering output up close.

The Pyrithite Spear makes the port over from Forge World as a melta that doubles as a devastating melee weapon. Sign us up!

Adeptus Custodes Auric Champions Battleforce Box

The first place you’ll be able to acquire this new Shield-Captain is in the Auric Champions Battleforce. Alongside their pyrithite spear-toting leader, you’ll get five Custodian Wardens, six Allarus Terminators, and six Vertus Praetors who soar into battle on Dawneagle Jetbikes.

The Auric Champions Battleforce Box offers players a chance to build a complete army with Custodian Wardens, Allarus Terminators, and Vertus Praetors.

While the last battleforce boxes cost $230, we currently have no idea how much this one is going to cost, but it certainly is a big chunk of building a new army! Sadly, this box set does not come with a codex book, unlike the Deathwing Assault for the Dark Angels.

Adeptus Custodes 10th Edition 40k Codex

To find all the latest rules for these paragons of combat, look no further than the newCodex: Adeptus Custodes. It contains up-to-the-minute background information on the Adeptus Custodes, and datasheets and Detachments covering the Emperor’s bodyguards and the Sisters of Silence.
